The Wolf's submissions policy: poetry, critical prose and artwork

The submissions page set out how the magazine handled unsolicited work. It said it accepted poetry and critical prose by email only, with printed copies considered in exceptional circumstances, partly for environmental reasons and partly because email was easier to process.

Contributors were asked for no more than five poems, of any style or theme. The editor was said to prefer a modernist aesthetic to a postmodern one, experimental to mainstream work and serious to light verse. Critical prose on any poetry subject was welcomed, at roughly 2,000 to 3,000 words, with 1,000 to 1,500 words for a review of a poetry book, addressed to the reviews editor, Sandeep Parmar.

Each issue had an Artist in Residence, and the magazine usually printed six to eight pages or half-pages of that artist's work, so individual pieces were not published. Every published author was offered a complimentary copy.
