Eternities, a poem by Charles Simic in The Wolf issue 24

Eternities is a short poem by Charles Simic, printed in issue 24 of The Wolf.

The speaker looks into the window of a small store and sees his own pale reflection in the dim interior. He compares himself to a gentleman burglar who cannot decide between two items, a pearl necklace and an antique wall clock. Raindrops blur the rest of the view, and he presses his forehead against the glass.
